S!
I found a very interesting article written by a pilot who flew the only remaining 109E. It gives a blow-by-blow description of flying the aircraft and offers some very interesting insights. One in particular dealt with its difficult ground handling and landing characteristics. I've always read and heard that it was a function of the narrow landing gear. However, he points out that the 25degree camber of the gear combined with the center of gravity were major factors beyond the obvious placement of the gear itself.
Also interesting to read his description of managing prop pitch while in maneuvers.
Not light reading but very informative.
