Salute Chaps,

My monitor is on its way out; sluggish to start, has to warm up before it will display a picture, flickering backlight etc, etc. I know I could replace the backlight, but I imagine that would be more expensive than just getting a replacement.

I think a couple of you have bought monitors recently, I just wondered what you thought of them. Been looking at a 27" LG at Newegg that boasts a 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and wondered if that was really true? Might help to spot the dots!

Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.

Cheers,

W.

This is what I got http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3326540&CatId=3774

It dose not the greatest picture, there is some bleed thrugh when its black and the colors dont seem to be to vivid but it is nothing to realy complain about and I cant say I ever notice that stuff when I am playing anything. what makes it awsome is its huge for its price.

I bought a pricey Dell 24" a few years ago that has excellent color. I color calibrate my monitor to use with the wedding photography I do... Its 1920 x 1200 but man I am having a hell of time seeing aircraft at a distance. If I run at anything other than teh default resolution that it looks awful.

I would like a bigger monitor still like that one you have Snake. How do teh dots show up? To me thats more important than the perfect blacks and colors.

Winger-

I recently upgraded to a 24" LG W2453V

Pretty sure it is the smaller brother of what you are looking at as it has 50,000:1 contrast ratio.

Could not be happier. Colors are good, no bleeding, no frame rate issues, and no dead pixels. I bought mine at Fry's for about $379. Went in ready to buy a cheaper one, but looking at them stacked up to each other there was no comparison.

Thanks for the thoughts gents. Looks like the LG will be dispatched to chez Winger forthwith.
