Salute All

Tragedy to see 8 Americans and 5 Canadians killed today, by Suicide bombers and IED's.

One of the Canadians killed was a reporter, originally from British Columbia, several people in my newsroom knew her, I didn't. She's the second Newsperson to become a casualty, another CBC cameraman who I know had his leg blown off by an IED.

War is not going well at this point, Afghanistan was neglected for too long under Bush, the Afghan government was allowed to become riddled with corrupt warlords and drug dealers, and the Taliban have come back strong.

Still, not sure there is any alternative to fighting the war there, if Afghanistan falls, Pakistan will probably too, and there are Nuclear weapons in that state.

Unfortunately we are likely going to see a lot more dead.

Ive just finished reading Sniper One by Sgnt Dan Mills about a british battle group under seige in Iraq.

You can see much of the madness in those pages.
