View Full Version : The 8th Air Force over Europe: A public war event, Sat 6 Mar 2010

RAF74 will be hosting a public war event on the RAF74 Historical Dogfight Server on Saturday, 6 March 2010. The mission depicts the 6 Sep 1942 8th Air Force raid on the Potez aircraft factory at Meaulte. The full-strength bomber force - 41 B17s - is already built in. Players will fly Spitfire escorts or Bf109 and Fw190 interceptors. All units fly the historically correct types from their actual bases. Additional AI fighters are active as well.

The objectives are simple: the RAF pilots must protect the bombers, and the Luftwaffe pilots must stop them.

Requirements are the same as for the DF server: UP 2.0n with the following mods enabled:

The mission takes 90 minutes. We will run it twice back-to-back, so if you like you can fly it once from each side. We hope to see you at 2100EST on Saturday 6 March!

Special bonus mission just added!



We'll run both missions, just over an hour apiece (minor adjustment to the original plan). Additionally, we'll start an hour early - 2000EST - in order to have enough time to run both missions twice! Spits vs. 190s and Sabres vs. MiGs, all in one night!

Glad you enjoyed it, Winger. Turnout was frankly disappointing, but hopefully there was enough going on to keep things interesting.

Yep, great job Bimmer...After you left, myself, Winger and Sluggo flew blue to intercept the bombers....You should've heard Sluggo on comms....He was very caught up in seeing the formation comming at us as we lined up for a headon attack. Very impressive.
