RAF74 is pleased to announce that on Friday 4 June we will be hosting a public event depicting the famous "Channel Dash", otherwise known as Operation Cerberus, when the German battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, along with their escorts, ran past British defenses in an audacious daytime operation. Poor weather conditions and bad luck prevented the British from detecting the ships until they were well on their way to their home ports. In the end, despite repeated attacks, the RAF was unable to inflict any significant damage. The mission has been built using information from numerous sources and has been constructed to offer a realistic representation of the events of that day.
The mission covers a three-hour period. We will be running the mission repeatedly throughout the day so that squadrons and individuals from all around the world will have the opportunity to participate. No sign-up is necessary, though we'd love to hear from you if you plan to attend. RAF74 runs 4.09 and UP 2.01; information about the exact mods necessary will be posted prior to the event.
